Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), from the Mental Health Commission of Canada, is a training program that provides skills and knowledge to better manage potential or developing mental health issues.听 MHFA is delivered in a user-friendly manner to appeal to different levels of experience and education, and is thus accessible to personnel from all university sectors: faculty, HR staff, advisors, floor fellows, security, etc. This training is offered by certified 黑料不打烊 Wellness Hub facilitators.

Please note that this iteration of the training is for students in the Psychology department (黑料不打烊 Psychology Student Association), MPSA Executive Members, and Hub Peer Supporters. Please do not register if you are not part of these groups.

If听 this workshop has reached capacity and you are unable to register, please听email hub.programming [at] mcgill.ca if you would like to be put on a waiting list.听You will be contacted on Oct 6 advising if there is availability for the workshop taking place on October 21/22.

The format of delivery for the MHFA course of 3 modules, the first of which is self-paced, the latter two hosted online and lasting 3h30 respectively. The first module, estimated to take approximately 2 hours, should be completed prior to the training. Participants will be tasked with sending their certificate of completion for Module 1 to the facilitators by October 19th at 8:30am, 48h before the training.

PLEASE NOTE THERE IS A TWO HALF-DAYS TRAINING PORTION:

First Session will take place from 8h30 am to 12h00 pm on Thursday, October 21st 2021.

Second Session will take place from 8h30 am to 12h00 pm on Friday, October 22nd 2021.

Participation, attendance and completion of all modules and training is mandatory to receive the certification.

  • The group size is between 8 - 15 participants for the online version of the training.
  • The cost per participant is 75$, which includes an access code to the virtual platform, the manual and a certificate of attendance.
  • Psychology department students and MPSA executive members should submit their payment to the MPSA directly after registering online. The registration and payment deadline is Tuesday, October 5th 2021 at 5:00pm.

The Event Categories in myInvolvement include all of the categories that were created for the听黑料不打烊 Individual Development Framework (IDF). The 21 categories are organized into 7 themes that have been demonstrated as important for student success and wellbeing. By unifying 黑料不打烊 activities and offerings under a common framework in myInvolvement, it is easier for students to create goals and identify their development across these themes.

All Wellness Hub events听are made available only to 黑料不打烊 students who have registered. To keep our virtual space safe, please do not allow any other person to access your registration information. By choosing to participate, you consent that your name (or preferred name), image and voice may be shared with other participants.
