Cultivating a Positive Body Image
The body image group will be presented as 4 individual workshops which can be attended separately or as a whole. Students may sign up for the workshops that interest them. Students will learn what body image is, the factors that contribute to negative body image, its connection with self-esteem and how to develop a more positive relationship with their bodies.
The themes are the following:
- Introduction to body image
- In this workshop we will define what body image is and examine the socio-cultural factors influencing it.
- Body image and self-esteem
- In this workshop we will look at how body image is interacting with how we feel about ourselves in general. We will explore our values and their coherence with our choices and behaviors.
- Positive body image
- In this workshop we will reflect on strategies for developing and maintaining a more positive relationship with our bodies and ourselves.
- Body image and sexuality
- In this workshop we will explore how socio-cultural representations (and misrepresentations) of genitalia and the erotic body influence our relationship with our sexual selves.
Please register 24 hours prior to the start of the workshop in order to receive your invitation to the online meeting.
