Internships Policy

Several faculties at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ offer undergraduate students the opportunity to participate in internships which are career-related, professionally supervised, paid work term(s) which allow students to gain practical experience related to their field of study.

Internships are not mandatory; they are strictly voluntary on the part of the student and all negotiations take place between the student and the employer.Ìý They may be 4, 8, 12 or even 16 months long and may span one term or a number of terms (fall, winter, summer).

Students on internships do not receive their scholarships because they are remunerated by the company; however, awards are reinstated once they return to ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ to continue their studies (in the same academic year - does not include the summer term).

Students who are on internships for only the fall OR winter term, must complete at least 14 graded credits during the term at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ in order to be eligible for renewal of an entrance scholarship and/or for the one-year in-course awards.

Some faculties grant one or three credits for the internship.Ìý Such courses are ignored for scholarship purposes.

Ranking and verification of in-course scholarships

Please note that ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Engineering does not rank students; however, if a student met the in-course scholarship criterionÌýwe can indicate if a student fell within the top 10% of the Faculty.Ìý Enrolment numbers can be found on the Undergraduate StudentÌýwebsite.

If you wish to have the Scholarships Manager validate your in-course scholarship(s), you can send an email (from your ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ email address) to scholarships.engineering [at] mcgill.ca (Scholarships Engineering)Ìýalong with your full name and ID number.Ìý Third party requests cannot be accommodated.
