Every year in Kahnaw脿:ke, a Kanien:keha鈥檏a community on Montreal鈥檚 South Shore, students present their projects at a science fair organized by the Kahnaw脿:ke Education Center (KEC).

For more than 15 years, KEC Science Curriculum Consultant Kathy Walsh has supported students at schools across the community as they prepare projects in the weeks leading up to the annual fair. This year, she and KEC Science Projects Liaison Mya Bordeau enlisted the assistance of 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Office of Science Outreach to bring 黑料不打烊 students into the classroom as mentors.

The Indigenous Studies Program (ISP) is seeking a Faculty Lecturer to teach four lecture/seminar courses a year, mentor Indigenous students, and contribute to the development of the ISP's outreach initiatives and events.听

The successful candidate will develop and offer an Indigenous land-based or language-based course as part of their teaching load. Conditional on the strength of the academic candidate, preference will be given to candidates with experience in Indigenous languages of local Indigenous communities.

Kanuk jackets are made for Quebec winters鈥攂ut Quebec winters aren鈥檛 as cold as they used to be. Bertrand Cesvet (BA鈥86, MBA鈥88) wants to make Kanuk jackets more versatile. Cesvet led a group of investors who recently bought the Montreal winter wear company from Champlain Financial, a private equity group. Cesvet shares with La Presse the company鈥檚 plans to sell jackets that are more suited to temperature fluctuation, making its products more appropriate for markets where it plans to expand, such as the United States.

Gillian Stein (BCom鈥00)鈥檚 great-grandfather founded the Toronto-headquartered electronics business Henry鈥檚 in 1909, but she never envisioned becoming the company鈥檚 CEO. Growing up, she had seen how stressful running the company could be for her father Andrew, who had a heart attack at the age of 47. 鈥淚 always had a ton of respect and passion and admiration for the business but it wasn鈥檛 something I wanted for myself,鈥 says Stein. 鈥淚 changed and the business changed.

Dr. Eva-Flore Bui-Xuan听has been appointed as the new听Psychiatrist-in-Chiefof the Montreal Children鈥檚 Hospital, pending regulatory approvals.

As Psychiatrist-in-Chief, Dr. Bui will be responsible for the organization and leadership of child psychiatry clinical services of the MCH. She will work in close collaboration with Dr. Cecile Rousseau (Director, Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry) to implement academic priorities, including teaching and research activities at the MCH.
