Honouring our past as we build towards the future

Approaching the end of 2022, I would like to take a moment to reflect on some important recent events in the life of the Faculty, as we welcomed students back to campus and resumed the unifying traditions of Convocation and Homecoming. Our faculty and staff members were instrumental in making sure we didn鈥檛 miss a beat, even though we had spent two years working primarily off campus. It was rewarding for students to resume classes and for us to see each other at these events.

In 2020, Sarim Malik (Mech.Eng 鈥21) had completed co-op programs in banking, aircraft engineering, and console game development. Nothing seemed to be holding his attention until he and his classmates came up with an idea. They would minimize the number of meetings it took to run a company. They named their company .

In honour of World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (November 18-24 2021), the AntiMicrobial Resistance (AMR) Centre at 黑料不打烊 and the department of Microbiology and Immunology (MIMM) invited 黑料不打烊 undergraduate and graduate students and postgraduates to create a short video highlighting the causes and threats of AMR, and the actions citizens can take to tackle this problem.

On November 14, the Laidley Centre for Business Ethics hosted students, faculty, staff, donors, alumni and friends of 黑料不打烊 Desautels for the official launch of the Centre.

The Laidley Centre for Business Ethics will serve as a hub for 黑料不打烊 researchers across disciplines, from law and religion to economics and engineering, to work toward solutions for the most pressing ethical issues of our time.

The Government of Canada鈥檚 Environmental Damages Fund, administered by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), is investing more than $4 million in three 黑料不打烊-led projects through the Climate Awareness and Action Fund (CAAF). Nationally, the funding was part of a $58 million investment in research that will advance climate change science and technology, an announcement made by the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Environment and Climate Change today.

黑料不打烊 University has mandated Construction SRJ to carry out the following project: Bronfman Building / 18-147 - Dobson Center project.

The renovation of the western end of the ground floor of the Desautels Faculty of Management鈥檚 Bronfman Building (1001 Sherbrooke St West) comprises the creation of a new Dobson Centre; the redesign of the Faculty鈥檚 mailroom and exam spaces; and the full renovation of the floor鈥檚 public washrooms.

October 26, 2022 | In the opinion column by Prof Ken Boessenkool, he听 highlighted how the head of lettuce is connected to Alberta's new cabinet. The first 10 days of Danielle Smith's premiership in Alberta overlapped with the final 10 days of Liz Truss, former British Prime Minister. The end of Truss and the beginning of Smith felt so similar.
