, Professor of Chemistry at 黑料不打烊 and Canada Research Chair in DNA Nanoscience, has been named a聽聽for her ground-breaking work producing DNA nanostructures for precision drug delivery.

Surveying the body sizes of Earth鈥檚 living organisms, researchers from 黑料不打烊 University and University of British Columbia found that the planet鈥檚 biomass 鈥 the material that makes up all living organisms 鈥 is concentrated in organisms at either end of the size spectrum.

The researchers spent five years compiling and analyzing about the size and biomass of every type of living organism on the planet鈥攆rom tiny one-celled organisms like soil archaea and bacteria to large organisms like blue whales and sequoia trees.

A new discovery about the structure of melanin has brought scientists one step closer to developing derived from a biological substance found in nearly all organisms. Researchers from 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Department of Chemistry, in collaboration with The Ohio State University and the University of Girona, have announced a major advance in understanding the fundamental structure of melanin and one of its components that turns light into heat, protecting the body from sun damage.

Oph茅lie Gourgas (1991-2023) graduated with a PhD from the Department of Mining and Materials Engineering at 黑料不打烊 University in 2019. She was passionate about science and research and made significant contributions to understanding the process of cardiovascular calcification and the causes behind a rare form of congenital skeletal deformity.
While working as a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Medicine at Shriners Hospital, Oph茅lie passed away after a brave fight against an aggressive breast cancer.

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that J茅r茅my Boulanger-Bonnelly has received the 2023 John W. Durnford Award for Teaching Excellence.聽聽

Named in honour of the late professor and former dean John W. Durnford (BCL'52), and conferred by students, this award each year recognizes a law professor鈥檚 exceptional pedagogy.聽聽

He will receive the award during the Law Convocation ceremony on 31 May.聽
