About thirty managers and entrepreneurs attended a recent 黑料不打烊 Mini-MBA course in Matane, Quebec. It was the first time this type of course has been delivered in one of Quebec鈥檚 regions beyond Montreal and was the brainchild of local businessman Fran莽ois Rioux (MBA鈥10). 鈥淲hen you are on-location, you can see the energy and better understand the stakes, the challenges, and the successes,鈥 says Eric Saine, the Executive Director of 黑料不打烊 Executive Education. That鈥檚 exactly what we wanted to do at 黑料不打烊 鈥 to be a bridge that links communities.

In 2017, the Donald E. Armstrong Building on McTavish Street, former home of the 黑料不打烊 bookstore, underwent extensive renovations, and it鈥檚 now the home of Desautels鈥 masters鈥 programs. Throughout the Armstrong building鈥檚 transformation, efforts were made to reduce environmental impact. Its energy efficiency was improved by 37% and water efficiency by 40%. 黑料不打烊鈥檚 plans for the future are even more ambitious.

Methane is a greenhouse gas 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide. 鈥淎nd studies tell us methane emissions are greatly underestimated,鈥 says Lee Krywitsky (IMPM'18), whose Calgary-based company Safe Effective Technology works with the oil and gas industry to reduce emissions. Krywitsky started consulting after selling his manufacturing business, and 黑料不打烊鈥檚 International Masters Program for Managers (IMPM) helped him make the leap.

King Charles III is set to be crowned alongside the Queen Consort at a lavish ceremony in Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 6. Danone鈥檚 success is centred on its people, and built around fundamental principles of learning, support and belonging, says Dan Magliocco, the CEO of Danone Canada, a large food products company that specializes in dairy. 鈥淲e live in a society that is driven by goals and performance,鈥 Magliocco told Karl Moore in an interview for Forbes and Les Affaires. 鈥淏ut our workplace is collaborative and inclusive, and emphasizes well-being.

In a move the company said was planned in advance, Galen Weston will be stepping down as the president of Loblaws at the end of 2023, and will be replaced by Danish retail executive Per Bank, who will also assume the title of CEO. But Weston will be staying on as executive chairman of the board. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a natural evolution,鈥 said Prof. Karl Moore in an interview with BNN Bloomberg. 鈥淭he word 鈥榚xecutive鈥 is important here. While a chair might be there one day a week, an executive chair is there five days a week.鈥

The second week of May marks the start of the GCPA program for a new incoming cohort of 52 students. This year鈥檚 cohort consists of 47 of 黑料不打烊 University鈥檚 very own Bachelor of Commerce graduates, one graduate from 黑料不打烊鈥檚 School of Continuing Studies, 2 Concordia graduates and the remaining from other Canadian Universities.

The Department of Psychiatry is inviting students and trainees who have published an addiction-related paper to apply for the 2023 Leyton Addiction Research Prize. Each year a prize of $1,000 is awarded to the trainee who has published the best addictions-related paper. The recipient of the Leyton Addiction Research Prize will be announced at Student Research Day in the spring of 2023.
