AMCIS 2023, an AIS conference taking place from August 10 to 12 in Panama City and co-chaired by 黑料不打烊 Desautels鈥 IS Area Coordinator Professor Animesh Animesh, aims to highlight the impact of research projects in technology on local communities. Office of First Nations and Inuit Education (OFNIE) student, Esther Elizabeth Tooma, was featured by CBC as being part of an all-female team that finished in second place at the聽Quebec Aboriginal Firefighters Competition last week. Tooma, a certificate student slated to graduate after the Summer 2024 Semester, only started training last year for the firefighter competition held in聽Listuguj, Quebec.聽

The Department of Psychology is seeking a Student Research Assistant聽to support a collaborative project with the First Nations Information Governance Centre (FNIGC) on 鈥淩especting and asserting First Nations Data Sovereignty Research Data Management鈥. This project is a collaborative effort between FNIGC, six academic institutions, including 黑料不打烊 University, and multiple Inuit and First Nations governments and organizations.

July 2023 was the hottest month ever recorded on Earth according to the European Copernicus service and extreme heat and drought are compromising many crops in Saskatchewan.

The provincial government's latest weekly crop report shows that from July 24 to 31, moisture levels in agricultural fields were insufficient in 49% of cases, and very insufficient in 38% of cases.

Congratulations to philanthropist Sylvan Adams, the namesake of 黑料不打烊's Sylvan Adams Sports Science Institute, who finished first in the Masters 65-69 age group of the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships in Scotland on Friday. This event, open to all athletes, had more than 1,800 riders from 68 countries competing for one of 20 gold medals and rainbow jerseys. Then on Monday, Adams also finished first in his age bracket in the championship鈥檚 individual time trial, winning by more than one minute on the 22-kilometer course.聽
