On August 20, 2013, Fred Headon (BCL鈥�96, LLB鈥�96) took over the helm as President of the Canadian Bar Association () during the closing luncheon of the CBA's annual Legal Conference in Saskatoon.
Headon currently leads Air Canada鈥檚 in-house labour and employment law team at the company鈥檚 headquarters in Montreal. From 1999 to 2006, he practised labour and employment law, human rights and privacy law, and administrative and constitutional law at McCarthy T茅trault in Montreal.
The Faculty of Law was delighted to learn that our colleague Daniel Boyer (BA鈥�79, MLIS鈥�88), Head Librarian of the Nahum Gelber Law Library, was named Associate Dean of User Services of the 黑料不打烊 Library for a two-year mandate.
As well, Me Boyer has also been named to the board of directors of the Soci茅t茅 qu茅b茅coise d'information juridique (SOQUIJ) for a period of five years, following the recommendation of the Deans of law faculties across Quebec.
The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Daniel Weinstock to the position of Director of the 黑料不打烊 Institute for Health and Social Policy, an interdisciplinary institute housed within the Faculty of Medicine at 黑料不打烊 University, starting August 1.

The fundraising activity, which brought in $400,000 from BLG鈥檚 lawyers and partners across Canada, ended this month.
The Faculties of Arts and Law are happy to announce that Professor Ronald Niezen, a former Chair of 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Department of Anthropology who held the Canada Research Chair in the Comparative Study of Indigenous Rights and Identity, has been appointed as the first incumbent of the Katharine A. Pearson Chair in Civil Society and Public Policy.
Earlier this month, during the annual conference of the Canadian Association of Law Teachers () in Victoria, B.C., Professor Shauna Van Praagh was elected President of the Association and a member of its executive.
