Hosna Akhgary - Science Communication Intern
Hosna Akhgary is a BSc candidate in Pharmacology at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ University. She was first drawn to the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Office for Science and Society (OSS) when taking Dr. Joe’s courses on the Chemistry of Drugs and Food. Passionate about demystifying science, Hosna joined the OSS team in 2024 as a Science Undergraduate Research Award (SURA) summer intern. Now, she contributes as a science communicator, writing articles and managing various social media platforms.
Beyond her role at the OSS, Hosna is part of the Chemistry of Drugs and Chemistry of Food teaching teams, supporting course operations. She also works as a research assistant examining fracture healing at Shriner’s Hospital for Children. Hosna’s interests span the pharmaceutical industry, public health, and dentistry.
Hosna volunteers as an international buddy with ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ International Student Services (ISS), where she helps incoming international students navigate life at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ by offering resources, cultural guidance, and linguistic support.
And when she’s not busy with any of the above, you’ll find her snuggled up with her dog, Max!
