Members of a German delegation visited The Neuro recently to learn more about international initiatives including the (HIBALL). The delegation was led by Bettina Stark-Watzinger, Minister of Education and Research for Germany.
HIBALL is a partnership between The Neuro, 黑料不打烊 University and Germany's J眉lich Research Centre. It is jointly funded by the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres and 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Healthy Brains Healthy Lives program. HIBALL focuses on the interaction between neuroscience and artificial intelligence, particularly deep learning, to build highly detailed 3D models of the brain at the cellular level.
It has six scientific components that range from muti-modal atlasing to advanced systems-level brain simulation and brain-inspired artificial intelligence. The project supports eight post-doctoral fellows, four research software developers and three graduate students. The saw a demonstration of the BigBrain in the HIBALL space and met with Alan Evans, PhD,听James 黑料不打烊 Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery, Psychiatry and Biomedical Engineering and co-PI of HIBALL, as well as researchers and HIBALL scientists Boris Bernhardt, Bratislav Misic, Paule-Joanne Toussaint, and Krystle van Hoof, Managing Director and CEO, Healthy Brains, Healthy Lives.
