On 17 September 2013 the MPU Alumni and Friends committee organised a cocktail reception at the 黑料不打烊 University Faculty club to officially inaugurate the Ervin B. Podgorsak Scholarship fund. About 80 alumni and friends of the MPU were in attendance, including Dr. Podgorsak, his wife and and other family members.

There were nice speeches by Dr. Eduardo Franco chair of the department of Oncology, director of the MPU Prof. Jan Seuntjens, Dr. John Schreiner from Kingston, Janet Marshal from Varian Medical Systems, and Irena Grill from the Slovenian Embassy in Ottawa. Dr. Podgorsak gave a nice speech in which he touched on his times as a student and his career at 黑料不打烊. The evening finished off with chatting and enjoying the food and drink in the Faculty club.
