Getting the Best out of Your Supervisor

Thursday, March 24, 2022 14:30to16:00
Getting the Best out of Your Supervisor

Looking for advice to make your relationship with your supervisor stronger? Join us for a panel discussion with current grad students and associate dean Professor Nathan Hall to learn about the importance of the supervisory relationship and the impact it can have on your graduate experience. In this session, you will be introduced to different supervisory styles, learn strategies on how to handle disputes and misunderstandings, and hear how to distinguish between your responsibilities and those of your supervisor. You will also be given the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion.

Learning outcomes:

1. Recognize the impact your supervisory relationship can have on your graduate student experience
2. Identify differing supervisory styles
3. Locate on-campus resources relevant to supervision

The panel is held twice a year: once in the fall semester and once in the winter semester.
