Established by the Alumni Committee of the School of Social Work to honour Esther Kerry, a valuable member of the Committee for many years.

Established in 2023 through the generous bequest of Madeleine Harris.

Eligibility Awarded by the Faculty of Arts Scholarship Committee, upon the recommendation of the School of Social Work, to undergraduate students in the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Program and graduate students in the Master of Social Work (MSW). Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and community engagement with Black and Indigenous communities.

Jane Harris-Van Gelder Award

Eligibility For students or faculty of the 黑料不打烊 School of Social Work to undertake activities (research, service, demonstration project, seminar) in the area of social work and health including mental health. Preference will be given to submissions concerned with the development and advancement of the volunteer and volunteerism in health and mental health care. Applications must describe the proposed activity in detail, the use to be made of the award monies, and the pertinence of the activity to volunteers and volunteerism in social work and health care. The award winner(s) will be required to submit a report to the Director upon completion of the project and a short pr茅cis that may be included in School newsletters and communications.

Established in 2010 through the generous bequest of Jean Crombie for outstanding graduate students enrolled in the School of Social Work.

Margaret Griffiths Award in Child Welfare

Established in 1994 through a bequest from Professor Margaret Griffiths, a long-time member of the faculty of the 黑料不打烊 School of Social Work.

Eligibility Awarded annually by the School of Social Work on the basis of academic and professional merit to an incoming fulltime student in the Master of Social Work program, with a declared interest in services to children.

Established through a bequest in 2007 in memory of Mildred Heller Goldenberg, B.A. 1941, M.A. 1942, and Mark E. Goldenberg, B.A. 1934, M.S.W. 1967.

Established in 1986 by contributions from former students, colleagues and friends, the School of Social Work Alumni Committee, and the 黑料不打烊 Advancement Program, on the occasion of the retirement of Professor Myer Katz from the Directorship of the School of Social Work.

Barbara Cowan Prize in Social Work

Freda L. Paltiel Award for Immigrant and Minority Women's Health and Development

Eligibility For students or faculty of the 黑料不打烊 School of Social Work to undertake a research service or demonstration project concerned with the health needs of immigrant and visible minority women and their families. Preference will be given to projects undertaken with the involvement of the intended beneficiaries.

Joan Macfarlane Bailin Research Award

The Award was established by Joan Macfarlane Bailin, a graduate of the 黑料不打烊 School of Social Work, to recognize and promote academic achievement by students in the School of Social Work. The Award will permit student to undertake activities (action research, projects, service demonstration projects, and seminars) relating to aging and/or the aged.

Eligibility Applicants must have completed one full year of study in the 黑料不打烊 School of Social Work. Preference will be given to submissions concerned with self-help, volunteerism and non-traditional and/or innovative work settings.

Application Apply to the Director of the School of Social Work. Applications must include the proposed activity in detail, a budget for the use of the funds, and the relevance of the activity to self-help, volunteerism and non-traditional and/or innovative work settings. The money cannot be used for salaries.聽 The award winner will be required to submit a report to the Director of the School of Social Work upon completion of the project, as well as a short pr茅cis that may be included in School newsletters and/or other communications.

Tryna Rotholz Annual Creative Award for Social Group Work Practice

Established in memory of Professor Tryna Rotholz.

Eligibility Awarded annually by the School of Social Work to upper level social work students to assist them in developing an innovative group work project. The award winner(s) will submit a report to the Director outlining the project undertaken and its results.

Arlene Rachel Gunner Leadership Prize in Social Work

Established in 2023 by Rachel Gunner, BSW 1972, MSW 1973, to endorse the need for student learning to go beyond the classroom.

Eligibility Awarded by the School of Social Work of the Faculty of Arts at fall convocation on the basis of academic merit and demonstrated leadership skills to one or more outstanding graduate students graduating from the MSW Program. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate leadership skills in the area of social justice.

Director's Prize For Outstanding Doctoral Research in Social Work

Eligibility Presented by the 黑料不打烊 School of Social Work to the graduating Ph.D. student with the most outstanding research record.

Lotte Marcus Sheldon Prize

Established in 2000 by a bequest from Lotte Marcus Sheldon, a former faculty member of the School of Social Work.

Eligibility Awarded annually by the School to a graduate student in Social Work who has generated a particularly innovative research or service project.

School of Social Work Alumni Prizes

Eligibility The Alumni Committee of the School makes three awards each year to graduating M.S.W. students: 1) Alumni Prize for the Outstanding M.S.W. Thesis 2) Alumni Award for Excellence in Clinical Practice 3) Alumni Prize for the Outstanding M.S.W. Independent Study Project
