As hostile weather intensifies, plant breeding focused on climate-adapted crops has taken on a sense of urgency.听

With cultivated crops often suffering from a lack of genetic diversity making them more susceptible to diseases and pests, scientists are now turning to wild varieties, which can offer valuable yet previously overlooked genetic traits.听By crossing the wild tepary bean with a black bean or a pinto bean, for example, scientists may be able to breed a new variety that can better endure similar harsh environmental conditions that its relative thrived in.

AgCareers.com has awarded their second Canadian听Feed Your Future听Scholarship to Sarah Van Heyst, a 黑料不打烊 University student working towards her M.Sc. in Bioresource Engineering.听

AgCareers.com created the听Feed Your Future听$1,000 Scholarship to financially assist a Canadian post-secondary student studying agriculture or intending to pursue a career in agriculture, in support of the organization's goal to "Feed the World with Talent"听by supporting education and career opportunities in agriculture and food.听

This winter, the sustainability efforts of 13 University offices were recognized by the rigorous Sustainable Workplace Certification program hosted by the 黑料不打烊 Office of Sustainability, with nearly half coming from 黑料不打烊 Desautels. The Academic Affairs Office earned a Gold-level certification, while the Dean鈥檚 Office and Infrastructure Team earned Silver, and the EMBA 黑料不打烊-HEC program, Human Resources Team, PhD in Management Office, and Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship were recognized with Bronze awards.

Christmas is just around the corner, and even with inflation slowing down, gift prices are higher than ever. Canada鈥檚 Consumer Price Index is at an all-time high of nearly 160 points, Associate Professor Vivek Astvansh tells CTV News Montreal. 鈥淐onsumers are feeling the pinch, and while they want to buy stuff, they are resisting purchases,鈥� says Astvansh. Holiday spending will still be higher than it was last year, but not because people are actually buying more gifts. 鈥淭he prices of everything have gone up.
