The Canadian Business Hall of Fame honours more than 200 of Canada鈥檚 most illustrious business people, and this year, three 黑料不打烊 alumni were added to the list. As Teresa Tolo addressed Black Grad 2022 as valedictorian, she was overcome with emotion. The 4th annual edition of the event brought together a cohort of students who have excelled in a wide range of pursuits in academia and beyond. You might not know Shein鈥檚 brand, but chances are you鈥檝e seen their clothing. The Chinese fast fashion company has quickly and quietly grown into an e-commerce giant. Shein targets young shoppers with an online-only business model and rock-bottom prices. They have been able to scale quickly because without physical shopfronts, Shein can sell anywhere that it can ship their products. The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor Tina Piper has been appointed associate dean (academic) and that Professor Darren Rosenblum has been appointed associate dean (graduate studies).

They will begin two-year terms on 1 September 2022 and 1 August 2022, respectively. They are replacing Professor Rosalie Jukier and Professor Andrea Bjorklund, who will have completed three years in these roles.

Cindy Blackstock has been awarded the Principal鈥檚 the Changemaker Prize that recognizes exceptional individuals whose engagement with the public and the media has effected important societal changes. Professor Blackstock鈥檚 advocacy for First Nations children and families has led to a historic 40-billion-dollar settlement from the Federal Government recognizing discriminatory practices that led to the unnecessary placement of tens of thousands of children and failure to provide critical health and social services.
