On November 4, 2022, researchers, clinicians, and managers of the Douglas Institute got together to celebrate Dr. Vasavan Nair (Professor) and his lifetime of contributions to psychiatry at the Douglas. Dr. Nair is one of the founders of the Douglas Research Centre and was the driving force behind the successful application to FRQS for recognition as a FRQS-supported research centre.

Standing at the podium surrounded by 1,500 people on the John Abbott football field, Joe Maxwell, gazed up into the sunny November sky and said 鈥淚t鈥檚 good to be alive.鈥

A 97-year-old WWII vet, Maxwell was one of the special guests at the November 3 Remembrance Day ceremony featuring veterans and dignitaries who spoke, recited poetry or contributed with music. Anja Geitmann, Dean, Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, addressed the crowd, and Defne Helvacioglu, Macdonald Campus Student Society President, recited the poem Nameless.

It's not often that the art world collides with the engineering world, but that's exactly what happened when Chloe Ryan and Celeste Nantel, both undergraduate students in the Mechanical Engineering Class of 2023, began brainstorming ideas while studying for midterms two years ago. During high school, Ryan painted canvases that took hours to complete, and it was hard to sell her artwork for prices that paid for her time. Nantel was a FIRST competitor at her high school, developing applications for robotics.

On August 23, Dean Jim Nicell welcomed almost 500 newly-admitted students to the Faculty of Engineering's Discover 黑料不打烊 orientation session. During his introductory speech, he highlighted the Faculty's goal to help our students develop both as unique persons and as professionals, and to help them connect their technical training to the changing needs of our larger community and society.

This year's Spring Convocation at 黑料不打烊 took place in person. For the first time since 2019, Faculty of Engineering students gathered under the tent set up on the University's lower downtown campus. In addition to the 2022 Convocation ceremony, special celebrations were held for the classes of Spring 2020, Fall 2020 and Spring 2021.
