On February 3, first-year 黑料不打烊 Desautels MBAs participated in the annual Desautels Case Cup competition. Judged by alumni, this year鈥檚 case focused on MassChallenge, a program created by John Harthorne and Akhil Nigam that provides support and funding for startup companies. Thanks to the open-source community, the organization which began as a for-profit evolved to include mentorship, encouraging creativity, building communities and supporting startups created by marginalized and disenfranchised groups.

We welcomed over 120 participants to our 2nd Schwartz Rounds on Feb 14th, 2023. The theme was: The Intersection of Faculty and Learner Well-Being

Panelists Dr. Clara Long (R1), Mr. Paul Kennedy (Unit Coordinator, MGH), and Dr. Ning-Zi Sun offered diverse perspectives on the topic. A rich and engaged discussion followed whereby participants stressed the importance of expectations for both faculty and trainees. Communication between faculty and trainees is key to wellness as is teamwork for all members working together for a common goal.

Dianea Phillips, BEd鈥85, was 40 years old when she experienced her first zero-gravity flight.

鈥淚 fell in love with aerospace,鈥 recalls Phillips, a Certified Aerospace Educator. 鈥淚f it spins or flies, I love it. If it changes matter, even better!鈥

Phillips鈥檚 zero-gravity flight was the culmination of her participation in the U.S. Space and Rocket Center鈥檚 10-day Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama, where she lived and trained like an astronaut alongside participants from around the world.

The federal government said it will also block the Chinese-owned social media app from being downloaded on official devices in the future. For Jim West (BA鈥79) and Justin West (BCom鈥04), the music industry is a family affair. From a young age, Justin accompanied his father to industry conferences, and during his teenage years, he spent the summers working for his father鈥檚 record label: Justin Time Records. The younger West graduated from Desautels with a degree in accounting, but ultimately followed in his father鈥檚 footsteps. In 2006, he launched a label called Secret City Records.
