What is AMI?
The Faculty of Arts Internship Mentorship Initiative (AMI) was created in collaboration with the Arts Undergraduate Society (AUS) to form a student network of past and future interns. Students who have completed internships in the past (AMI Mentors) will guide students (AMI Mentees) who want to apply for an internship or internship funding through the Arts Internship Office. The goal is to foster a more in-depth, personalized mentor-mentee relationship between students.听听
How does it work?听
Students returning from past AIO or ARIA internships are matched with mentees, interested in an internship for the next summer. Our signup sheet matches mentees with an AMI mentor.
We will match mentors and mentees and will notify the matching results by email. Once matched, there will be events and opportunities for mentors and mentees to meet.听
Eligibility and Expectations
Mentor
Students who have successfully completed an internship听or received internship awards听through the Faculty of Arts Internship Office听can sign up for听AMI听mentors.听听听听
As mentors, students will also receive an official extra-curricular recognition on My Involvement, practice leadership and interpersonal skills through coaching, communication, active listening, and help a fellow Arts student .听
听AMI Mentors are expected to:听
- Schedule at least one meeting with the mentee(s)听
- Listen actively and answer the mentee(s)'听questions听
- Share their internship insights and be open to give advice听
- Share their personal experience in a way to evoke mentee(s)鈥檚 reflection rather than give specific advice听
- Participate in events, include the Meet & Greet (see Events page)
Mentee
All 黑料不打烊 Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Arts & Science students are eligible to sign up as听a mentees.
AMI Mentees are expected to:
- Communicate with their mentor as soon as they receive their coordinates
- Schedule at least one meeting with the mentor
- Ask relevant questions about the mentor's internship journey
- Participate in events, include the Meet & Greet (see Events page)
- Meet with AIO advisors to ask specific questions and complement the information received through the mentorship
How to apply听
Students can apply to be either a mentee or mentor from September to October each academic year. The link to the application form can be found on our website. Matching results will be notified by email after the mentee application deadline ends.听

You鈥檒l have the chance to meet your mentor in person, ask questions about their internship journey, and discuss your goals, whether you're seeking guidance on applying for an AIO internship, finding your own, or doing a research internship!
