Marie-Hélène Pennestri Named Prix du Quebec Finalist
The provincial government announced the winners of the Prix du Quebec today. Among them was ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Education's Marie-Hélène Pennestri, a finalist for the Prix Hubert-Reeves - Relève scientifique, typically awarded to up-and-coming researchers who have distinguished themselves by the excellence of their work and have demonstrated the ability to establish and maintain constructive and lasting links with the research community.

Dr. Pennestri investigates the development of the sleep-wake cycle in infancy, in relation to physical and mental health, family functioning, and parental expectations. Her research program also focuses on more vulnerable populations, such as social pediatric, foster children and premature birth. She has a multidisciplinary approach and her projects integrate physiological and psychological measures. Her research program is funded by SSHRC, CIHR, FRQS, and FRQSC. Apart from Dr. Pennestri's research and supervision, she is also the Faculty of Education's Associate Dean, Research and Graduate Programs, and is currently Acting Co-Chair for the Department of Educational Psychology and Counselling.
