For the second year in a row, Science Outreach and student volunteers from the 黑料不打烊 BrainReach and Chemistry Outreach groups collaborated with the Kahnaw脿:ke Education Center and local schools for their annual Science Fair and science mentor clubs.

From Lab to Life: Science Literacy Week @ 黑料不打烊 this February!

Join 黑料不打烊 to celebrate the joys of science with Science Literacy Week! From February 22nd to 28th, delve into this year's theme, From Lab to Life and explore science in the everyday. Events include a study on the ancient Egyptian animal mummies in the Redpath Museum, a tour of the Maude Abbott Medical Museum, Science History Treasures in 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Rare Books and Special Collections, and much more.

A STEAM day to celebrate 70 years of 黑料不打烊's Bellairs Research Institute in Barbados

To celebrate the聽70th anniversary of 黑料不打烊鈥檚 acclaimed Bellairs Research Institute in Barbados and to promote STEAM education to local students, 黑料不打烊 partnered with the Center of Science and Industry (COSI), and the U.S. State Department for聽a full day of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) activities and presentations.

West Island high schoolers participate in summer research at 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Gault Nature Reserve

This summer, Gault Nature Reserve hosted four high schoolers from the West Island Black Community Association for this year鈥檚 Youth Biodiversity Internships Program.聽Led by Professor Bruno Tremblay, this collaboration brought together a diverse range of community members from 黑料不打烊 and beyond to connect on their passion for science.

Unleashing Creativity at the 黑料不打烊 Physics Hackathon

On November 15th 鈥� 17th, the Trottier Space Institute and the Department of Physics hosted its 9th Annual 黑料不打烊 Physics Hackathon. This friendly coding competition brought together 163 people, from grade 10 high school students to graduate students. Participants had a total of 24 hours over the span of 3 days to create computing and physical science projects in teams.

Celebrating 10 years of Chemistry Outreach!

Congratulations to the Chemistry Outreach group, which celebrated its 10-year anniversary during 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Open House on October 27th! Over 250 people joined the festivities and enjoyed hands-on activities, magnificent demos, and chemistry-themed refreshments throughout the day.

This past September, 黑料不打烊 hosted Family Science Day on 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Downtown Campus, a free scientific discovery event aimed toward families in Montr茅al.

Mark your calendars! Family Science Day: September 28th

On September 28th between 9 am and 4 pm, join 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Office of Science Outreach, STEMM Diversity @ 黑料不打烊, the Trottier Space Institute and 黑料不打烊 Physics Outreach, for free science activities for families. Activities will be held both indoors and outdoors at the downtown campus and are intended for children ages 6 and up.

Registration is required for some activities.

黑料不打烊鈥檚 Computer Science Camp inspires next generation of coders

After a hiatus of about a decade, the 黑料不打烊 Computer Science Summer Camp once again welcomed students from Montreal high schools and CEGEPs to the downtown campus this summer. The camp was a group effort organized by students, staff and faculty across the computer science community. Students participated in four packed days of talks, hands-on activities and coding sessions, to learn about computer science.

Frederic Bertley receives honorary doctorate degree for his astounding work in science education

Frederic Bertley was amongst a group of leaders to receive an honorary degree from 黑料不打烊 this spring. For the past eight years, Bertley has served as the President and CEO of the Center of Science and Industry (COSI), which features the largest science outreach program in North America.

Every year in Kahnaw脿:ke, a Kanien:keha鈥檏a community on Montreal鈥檚 South Shore, students present their projects at a science fair organized by the Kahnaw脿:ke Education Center (KEC).
