The weather conditions were dodgy, but our skipper decided to go ahead with the whale watching expedition. The first couple of big waves were actually fun, but very quickly my brain and my gut decided that they weren’t fun anymore. A boat, they concluded, is supposed to move horizontally on a body of water, not vertically. Thus began one of the worst days of my life. I vomited not just once but twice and spent hours on the deck of the boat, getting thoroughly soaked and feeling like I just needed to get off.
Fri, 06 Aug 2021 20:22:23 +0000 Jonathan Jarry M.Sc. 8798 at /oss The Right Chemistry: Mustard Gas and Chemotherapy /oss/article/videos/right-chemistry-mustard-gas-and-chemotherapy

Video of Dr. Joe Schwarcz: Mustard gas and chemotherapy

Fri, 13 Sep 2019 19:19:29 +0000 Joe Schwarcz PhD 7925 at /oss New Cancer Drugs Rally the Body’s Troops But They Should Not Be Immune to Criticism /oss/article/health/new-cancer-drugs-rally-bodys-troops-they-should-not-be-immune-criticism

Take-home message

“Cancer immunotherapy” means waking up your immune system so it can see and kill your cancer

Some of these therapies have had moderate success, but they are very expensive, do not work for everyone, and can cause diseases like arthritis and inflammation of the large intestine

Wed, 01 Aug 2018 19:13:06 +0000 Jonathan Jarry, MSc 7199 at /oss This NATURAL TRICK can CURE YOUR CANCER: How our deceptive cancer cure video went viral and reminded people to be skeptical /oss/article/videos/natural-trick-can-cure-your-cancer

Video of This NATURAL TRICK can CURE YOUR CANCER
Wed, 04 Jul 2018 16:29:32 +0000 Jonathan Jarry M.Sc. 7160 at /oss Fingerprints /oss/article/did-you-know/fingerprints
Fingerprints have been used since ancient times as a method to confirm identities. Although individuals are born with a unique set of fingerprints, these unique fingerprints can disappear. The disappearance of fingerprints can occur in cancer patients who undergo chemotherapy and are administered chemotherapy drugs such as capecitabine (Xeloda), 5-Flurouracil (5FU) and doxorubicin liposomal (Doxil). Small amounts of the chemotherapy drugs can leak out of the capillaries causing redness and desquamation on the hands and feet.
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 16:28:08 +0000 OSS 2528 at /oss Dr. Watson's article in 'Open Biology' /oss/article/health-news-you-asked/what-are-we-make-dr-watsons-article-open-biology-re-antioxidants-may-have-caused-more-cancers-those
When Dr. Jim Watson speaks, people listen. But they don't always hear the right things. Many press accounts reported that Watson had said that antioxidants cause cancer. He didn't say that. He questioned the use of antioxidant supplements by people undergoing cancer treatment. Watson's words carry a lot of weight because it was he, along with Francis Crick who in 1953 produced one of the most important research papers in the history of science.
Fri, 11 Jan 2013 16:26:28 +0000 Joe Schwarcz PhD 1855 at /oss
