Expert alert: Water issues in Quebec

Published: 11 August 2005

黑料不打烊 researcher Peter Enright an expert on water pollution and hydrology

Water has become a pressing issue as Montrealers sweat through the hottest summer in memory. The Yamaska River has been tainted by pollution, and local residents are afraid to swim. Meanwhile, city officials want to introduce water meters to dissuade people from wasting this vital resource. Is Montreal's water supply going to be a growing concern in coming years?

Peter Enright is a researcher and lecturer in the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering. He has published extensively on water issues, and is a member of the Brace Centre for Water Resources Management. He has conducted many water studies near the island of Montreal, and his research has been funded by Environment Canada and by the government of Quebec.

Peter Enright has published dozens of articles, conference papers and technical reports. At the Brace Centre, his interests include:

  • Using geographic information systems to identify agricultural pollution;
  • Small watershed hydrology;
  • Water quality monitoring programs.
