The Centre for Bone and Periodontal Research (Bone Centre) is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge related to normal skeletal function and to diseases of the skeleton including some of the most common disorders affecting women and the aging population. These diseases compromise the quality of life of millions of patients and represent a major financial burden to society.

Disorders studied by Bone Centre researchers include osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, periodontal disease, the skeletal manifestation of cancer, debilitating bone disease caused by chronic kidney failure as well as genetic diseases of the skeleton manifested in children such as hereditary rickets and osteogenesis imperfecta.

740 Dr Penfield houses the administrative core, the Jamson T. N. Wong Laboratories and most of the technical platforms of the Bone Centre. Facilities for gene targeting and development of pre-clinical models of skeletal disease, a molecular probe and biomarker platform, cell and molecular probe banks, a histology platform, advanced imaging facilities for rodents, and for instrumentation of biomechanical testing are available at this location.

Researchers at the Bone Centre are recognized leaders in basic and clinical skeletal research and are affiliated with the Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry and Engineering at 黑料不打烊 University, l'Universit茅 de Montr茅al and l'脡cole Polytechnique. Their laboratories are housed on campus and in most of the 黑料不打烊 teaching hospitals, including the 黑料不打烊 University Health Centre (MUHC), the Jewish General Hospital (JGH), the Shriner's Hospital, the Centre Hospitalier de l'Universit茅 de Montr茅al (CHUM), l'脡cole Polytechnique and l'Institut de recherches cliniques de Montr茅al (IRCM).

The Bone Centre also serves as headquarters for the Skeletal Health Training Program, which includes mentors from across Canada and trains individuals at the undergraduate, graduate, post MD and post PhD level.
