Professor Christopher Manfredi, Provost and Vice-Principal Academic announces the appointment of Dr.听Elham Emami听as the next听Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry. Dr. Emami鈥檚 five-year, renewable term will begin on July 1, 2018, and end June 30, 2023. The Advisory Committee for the Selection of a听Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry听conducted an extensive, international search. The听黑料不打烊听University Board of Governors accepted the committee鈥檚 recommendation during its meeting on February 15, 2018.
Dr. Emami is an internationally recognized clinical scientist who has dedicated her career to the promotion of oral health through service, education and research. She is currently a Full Professor, with tenure, in the Universit茅 de Montr茅al鈥檚 Department of Restorative Dentistry. She is the Director of the Universit茅 de Montr茅al鈥檚 Oral Health and Rehabilitation Research Unit. Dr. Emami is also an adjunct professor in听黑料不打烊鈥檚 Faculty of Dentistry and a research associate at the Centre de recherche du Centre hospitalier de l鈥橴niversit茅 de Montr茅al (CRCHUM). Much of her multidisciplinary, practice-driven听research is focused on three areas:听prosthodontic treatments, the impact of oral health on general health, and social inequalities in rural populations.
Dr. Emami holds a PhD in biomedical science and an MSc in prosthodontic rehabilitation, both from the Universit茅 de Montr茅al. She completed postdoctoral research in public dental health and cancer epidemiology at, respectively,听黑料不打烊听and the CRCHUM. She earned her DDS at Tehran University.
