Tropical Forests and Climate Change: How research can help transform a problem into a solution - Frances Seymour

Portrait of Frances Seymour.
Frances Seymour, Distinguished Senior Fellow at World Resources Institute, delivered a talk on her work in the area of tropical forests and climate change. She presented important consequences of tropical deforestation, such as significant release of greenhouse gas emissions and reduction of the ecosystem services that are crucial for ecosystem health and rural livelihoods, as well as the potential of forests in climate mitigation. She highlighted how trade, consumption patterns and policy in developed countries drive tropical deforestation and can be leveraged to help reduce deforestation as part of a global climate solution.
