The Friends of the 黑料不打烊 Library in collaboration with听听are delighted to welcome听Esi Edugyan听as the 2019 Hugh MacLennan Lecturer. She is the author of the Scotiabank Giller Prize-winning novels,听Washington Black听(2018) and听Half-Blood Blues听(2011) as well as the 2004 novel,听The Second Life of Samuel Tyne. Her works have听been finalists for a number of other literary awards, including the Man Booker Prize, the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize, the Governor General's Literary Award for Fiction and the Orange Prize. The author will be in conversation with听Amanda Parris, who writes a听weekly column for CBC Arts, hosts three CBC television series (CBC Arts: Exhibitionists,听The Filmmakers听and听From the Vaults)听and is the radio host of听Marvin's Room听on CBC Music.
