Self-Regulation on Steroids? The Canadian Judicial Council
Professor Richard Devlin, Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University, will speak about some of his recent work, which offers a critique of the Canadian Judicial Council鈥檚 complaints and discipline process.
This talk will be of interest to those interested in the study of ethics, judicial institutions, civil procedure, and alternative modes of dispute resolution.

About the speaker
Richard Devlin's areas of teaching include Contracts, Jurisprudence, Legal Ethics and Graduate Studies. He has published widely in various journals, nationally and internationally. 聽Recent books include editing Critical Disability Theory and Lawyers鈥� Ethics and Professional Regulation (2nd ed. 2012). 聽In 2003, and again in 2010, he received the Hanna and Harold Barnett Award for Excellence in Teaching First Year. 聽In 2008 he was a recipient of the Canadian Association of Law Teachers Award for Academic Excellence. 聽In 2013 he won Dalhousie University鈥檚 Centre for Teaching and Learning 鈥淐hange One Thing Challenge鈥�. 聽He has been involved in the design, development and delivery of Judicial Education programmes in Canada and abroad for more than 20 years. 聽In 2012 he agreed to serve as the Founding President of the Canadian Association for Legal Ethics. 聽In 2015 he was inducted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.聽
