Sound Scholarship: Correctly Using Sources & Maintaining Academic Integrity

Plagiarism is a major violation of academic integrity that has serious consequences. While you probably know that intentionally copying others鈥� work without acknowledging the information source is plagiarism, did you know that plagiarism can also occur听inadvertently? Knowing how to correctly use sources, how to paraphrase and summarize source material, is as important as knowing how to correctly cite sources.

In this workshop, we will 1) identify different types of plagiarism; 2) distinguish between using primary and secondary sources; 3) address how to use different citation patterns; and 4) discuss summary and paraphrase strategies essential to avoiding inadvertent plagiarism
