Peer Career Discovery Groups (Online): Career Exploration for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in the life sciences听
The Desjardins Centre for Advanced Training (DCAT) of the RI-MUHC and 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Career Planning Service (CaPs)听present听6听web conferences听for听graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in the life and health sciences. You will:听
- Learn how to听identify careers that suit you听
- Plan for your career听
- Effectively search 鈥痜or jobs鈥�听
- Develop and fortify your academic鈥疌V鈥�听
- Build your鈥痭etworking skills, meet fellow trainees and much more!听
This program will help you prepare for your career through鈥�6听free web conferences and 鈥痶hrough independent research and networking with 鈥疨CDG 鈥痯articipants.听
The Schedule of Topics (we recommend that you join all sessions but it听is not mandatory):鈥�听
Topic 1 (Tuesday, September 22nd, 9 鈥� 10:30am): Introduction to the remote version of PCDG and Introduction to Career Exploration听
Topic 2 (Tuesday, September听29th, 9 鈥� 10:30am): Planning your career using design thinking听
Topic 3 (Tuesday,听October听6th, 9 鈥� 10:30am): Discovering your career options听
Topic 4 (Tuesday,听October 13th, 9 鈥� 10:30am): Effectively digging deeper into your career matches听
Topic 5 (Tuesday,听October 20th, 9 鈥� 10:30am): An introduction to non-academic CVs听
Topic 6听(Tuesday,听October 27th, 9 鈥� 10:30am): Mock听job听interviews听

Each web conference will consist of three parts:听
Part 1: Introduction to the topic (10-15 minutes)听
Part 2: Breakout groups with peers (20 - 25 minutes)听
Part 3: Group Discussion, Assignment of exercises at home, and Question period (10 - 15鈥痬inutes)听
Participants will also receive the PCDG workbook.鈥�听
