Online Presenting (for Undergrads) (October 1 & 8 @ 10AM)

The Presenting 101 Series is 2x45 minute workshops that take you through the skill development needed to present effectively: honing content, creating an effective trajectory, designing effective visuals, and developing a dynamic presence. Together these skills combine to increase the comprehension, credibility and connection needed to maximize your impact when presenting.听 Whether prepping for a 5-10 minute class presentation or even a 30 minute talk, you are sure to come away with some helpful tips that can increase your impact.听 As bonus, there will be a 15-minute open Q&A at the end for people to ask questions of our Presentation Skills Training Manager, Andrew Churchill, who will be leading the session.听

  • The first workshop covers both Basic Set-up Strategies as well as Content and Trajectory Development. You will learn set-up strategies such as lighting, camera and body position as well as how a framework to interrogate audience and purpose can be used to refine content that is accessible, interesting and strategic. An exercise in developing an effective hook will be shared.
  • The second workshop covers Body Language, Voice &听the focus with all 3 is on understanding how to develop an engaging presence Exercises will focus on helping you overcome public speaking nerves as you learn to appear confident and credible. Visual development will focus on how to effectively supplement your talk without interfering with people鈥檚 experience of listening to you. Sample slides for a variety of different presentation types (research, business pitches, content summaries, etc.) will be shared as well as specific strategies to adapt slides to an online environment.

Each workshop is designed to take 45 minutes, followed by a 15-minute question and answer session.听 Registration and attendance at each workshop can be done independently but attending both workshops is ideal and will qualify for Co-Curricular Record credit. 听
