HBHL Coding Club: Fall 2024

A 9-week introduction to programming in Python

The HBHL Coding Club is open to 黑料不打烊 graduate students and postdocs working on brain health-related research. This free 补苍诲听beginner-level series is intended for graduate students and postdocs with little to no previous experience in programming to learn the fundamentals of programming in Python.

The series will run from the week of October 21 to the week of December 16, 2024, and will consist of weekly self-guided online lessons, weekly collaborative two-hour workshops held in-person at the HBHL offices (located on the 18th floor of ) and ongoing peer support.

The HBHL Coding Club program includes:

  • Weekly online lessons and activities following program (three to five hours per week). This can be done independently at any time during the week and only requires a computer with internet access. All participants will be provided with Codecademy Pro accounts for the duration of the program.
  • Weekly two-hour small group workshops held in-person on Tuesday afternoons (4:00-6:00 p.m. EST) OR Thursday afternoons (4:00-6:00 p.m. EST). These are designed to build on the online lessons鈥攜ou will work collaboratively to solve problems and apply your new knowledge to research-related examples. All workshops will be offered in person at the HBHL offices (located on the 18th floor of ). Please note that accommodations can be made if necessary (refer to Question 19 in the webform).
  • Ongoing peer support. Stuck on the online lesson? Have a coding problem at the lab? Discovered a helpful strategy or shortcut? Online discussions between workshops will facilitate collaborative troubleshooting and idea sharing.

The total time commitment is up to 8 hours per week, from the week of October 21 to the week of December 16, 2024.聽
