A workshop on sex- and gender-based analysis plus (SGBA+) in research

Wednesday, December 9 from 11:30am-1:30pm EST
Online (Zoom). All are welcome.

Considerations of sex and gender are key to conducting inclusive research, building unbiased technology and facilitating equitable health听care. Studies that have implemented sex- and gender-based analysis plus (SGBA+) have found sex differences in risk听of disease and听response to treatments., They have increased understanding of the relationship between听sex and听brain function., SGBA+听has also helped to detect gender and race bias in artificial intelligence, and develop strategies to remove听this bias. What will you find when you implement SGBA+ in your research?

Join HBHL and Scientista for Sex Cells!, a workshop on SGBA+, to learn how you can implement SGBA+ in your own research. The workshop will include two talks followed by guided group discussions.

  • Krystle van Hoof (Managing Director and CEO, HBHL and past Assistant Director, CIHR Institute of Gender & Health) will present听an overview of what SGBA+ is and why it is important, examples of studies that have implemented SGBA+, and听how SGBA+ can enhance your research and increase your ability听to get published and funded.

  • Led by researchers currently implementing SGBA+, participants will share experiences, questions and ideas related to integrating SGBA+ in their own research.听Group discussions听will take place using breakout rooms on Zoom.
