Alexis Ricard wins Nadine St-Pierre 2024 Award from the Coll猫ge Qu茅b茅cois des M茅decins de Famille

Alexis Ricard, MD, a resident from the Department of Family Medicine who graduated this summer from our Val d'Or University Family Medicine group (U-FMG), wins the Nadine St-Pierre 2024 Award from the Coll猫ge Qu茅b茅cois des M茅decins de Famille (CQMF). This award recognizes the best scholarly work of a French-speaking resident of a family medicine training program in Canada.

Dr. Alexis Ricard, now completing his residency in Emergency with Universit茅 de Montr茅al, distinguished himself with the quality of his scholarly work entitled L'embolie pulmonaire 脿 l'urgence, un angioscan pour tous? In this retrospective study evaluating the diagnostic approach to pulmonary embolism in the emergency department, Dr. Ricard demonstrated that the judicious use of a pretest probability score combined with D-dimer testing was safe for assessing the risk of pulmonary embolism. This approach would reduce the need for emergency imaging, thereby lowering costs and the associated adverse effects for patients.

The value of the Nadine St-Pierre Award is $1,000, plus free one-day registration to the Family Medicine Forum (FMF). The winner is also invited to attend the CQMF awards ceremony.

Congratulations Dr. Ricard!
