Congratulations to Dr. Jenna Gibbs, Assistant Professor in 黑料不打烊's Kinesiology and Physical Education (KPE) Department, who was recently awarded a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Discovery Grant and Launch Supplement for Early Career Researchers!

Dr. Gibbs will be receiving $132,500 over five years to advance her research on understanding the influence of weight-bearing impact exercise and muscle strength on bone properties in healthy humans: sex- and age-specific effects.

The supports ongoing programs of research with long-term goals rather than a single short-term project or collection of projects. These grants recognize the creativity and innovation that are at the heart of all research advances. Discovery Grants are considered 鈥済rants in aid鈥� of research, as they provide long term operating funds and can facilitate access to funding from other programs, but are not meant to support the full costs of a research program.
