ECP receives accolades at National Council on Problem Gambling annual conference

Students and faculty from the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology (ECP) returned from the NCPG听annual conference with some unexpected trophies in their luggage.听

Congratulations to Master's student Yaxi Zhao, who received the Outstanding Master's Thesis Award for her thesis,听鈥淎dolescent Multiple Engagement in Addictive Behaviors and the Role of Parents.鈥

听also won the annual Corporate Newsletter听Award for their , edited by Lynette Gilbeau.听

The serves as the national (US)听advocate for programs and services to assist problem gamblers and their families. Their 32nd annual conference was held July 20-21 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Jeff Derevensky, Chair of ECP and Director of the Centre for Youth Gambling and High-Risk Behaviours, delivered the keynote address at the conference, titled听鈥淵outh Gambling Issues: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow鈥. Last year Dr. Derevensky received the NCPG's Lifetime Research Award in recognition of his exceptional achievements in the field of gambling research.
