Book Launch | Radha D'Souza, "What's Wrong With Rights: Social Movements, Law and Liberal Imaginations" w/ reader Aziz Choudry
The Labour Law and Development Research Laboratory and the 黑料不打烊 Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism invite you to the book launch of What's Wrong with Rights? Social Movements, Law and Liberal Imaginations聽(Pluto Press, 2018) by O'Brien Fellow in Residence Dr.聽Radha D'Souza.
This event will be chaired by Dr.聽Lorena Poblete聽(O'Brien Fellow in Residence). The readers will be Profs. Aziz Choudry聽(Faculty of Education),聽Mark Antaki聽(Faculty of Law), and Adelle Blackett聽(Faculty of Law).

Radha D鈥橲ouza is an O鈥橞rien Fellow in Residence, critical scholar, activist, barrister and writer, who has lived and worked in India, New Zealand and the UK. She is currently a Reader in Law at the University of Westminster. Her research straddles legal studies, development studies, sociology, geography, theory, comparative philosophy and history. D鈥橲ouza鈥檚 work is well-known for its interdisciplinary breadth and for critically engaging theories and practices within social movements. Her book What鈥檚 Wrong with Rights?聽maps, for the first time, the transformations in the regime of international rights to the transformations in post-World War capitalism."
Aziz Choudry聽is Associate Professor in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education at聽黑料不打烊 University and a visiting professor at the Faculty of Education, University of聽Johannesburg, where he is affiliated to the Centre for Education Rights and聽Transformation. He is author or co-author of several books including聽Learning Activism:聽The Intellectual Life of Contemporary Social Movements聽(University of Toronto Press,聽2015), and co-editor of聽Learning from the Ground Up: Global Perspectives on Social聽Movements and Knowledge Production聽(Palgrave Macmillan, 2010),聽Just Work?聽Migrant Workers鈥� Struggles Today聽(Pluto Press, 2015)聽Unfree Labour? Struggles of聽Migrant and Immigrant Workers in Canada聽(2016,聽PM Press), and聽Reflections on Knowledge, Learning and Social Movements: History's Schools聽(Routledge, 2017). Choudry serves on the boards of the Immigrant Workers Centre, Montreal and the聽Global Justice Ecology Project.
