Call for proposals (Fall 2024)

SGI Student-Led Events 2024

The Sustainable Growth Initiative (SGI) at Desautels Faculty of Management is opening a call for proposals to organize student-led events this Fall 2024. The proposals will focus on the mission of SGI which is to mobilize the talent and expertise within 黑料不打烊 University to help businesses move towards more socially and environmentally sustainable business models.

This is an exceptional opportunity for 黑料不打烊 students to gain valuable experience and knowledge in sustainability.

The submission deadline has passed (October 11, 2024).

Possible event themes:

  • Sustainable supply chains: ensuring transparency, ethical sourcing and minimizing environmental impact.
  • Corporate social responsibility: Integrating social and environmental concerns in business operations.
  • Inclusive growth: ensuring economic growth benefits all segments of society.
  • Sustainable urban development: Planning and developing cities that are environmentally sustainable and resilient.
  • Environmental policy and regulation: implementing policies that promote sustainability.
  • Sustainable tourism: promoting tourism that conserves the environment and benefits local communities.
  • Energy transition: shifting from non-renewable to renewable sources of energy

A non-exhaustive list of event formats:

  • Networking event
  • Seminar
  • Workshop
  • Panel discussion

Event criteria and resources:

  • All teams must include a student affiliated with Desautels Faculty of Management. Collaborations with 黑料不打烊 students from other departments or Faculty are welcome. The suggested team size is 3-5 students, and this constraint is not strict.
  • The budget for the winning team to organize their event is $2,000 (including prizes, should the proposal include this aspect). Space rental and catering costs must be included in the budget. Room booking at 黑料不打烊 is available and must follow the following guidelines.
  • The teams will have access to some support via SGI resources.

Applications for Fall 2024:

  • Applications are to be submitted by October 11th, 2024.
  • The proposal (maximum 1000 words) must include:
    • detailed description of the event format,
    • the theme selected,
    • the suggested date and time for the event,
    • a detailed budget,
    • description of the key competencies that each team members will bring.

The winning team(s) will be announced by October 15th, 2024. The proposals will be evaluated based on feasibility and potential impact. SGI reserves the right to announce multiple winning proposals and encourages two or more teams to join forces to collaborate.
