Student-mentor programs hit their stride
As students looking to start their careers realize the value of getting sound advice, the number of student-mentor pairings in Canada is growing at a rapid rate. The growth and evolution of the Desautels mentorship program echoes that of many other schools鈥� programs. When the Desautels MBA mentorship started a decade ago, it was aimed at female students, but has since expanded to include all students and an online component.
What mentorship is not, however, is part of a long-game hiring process. Desautels鈥� Soutar Career Centre executive director Marie-Jos茅 Beaudin says that 鈥淭he aim is not placement,鈥� but rather the development of networking skills that a student can use throughout their career.
