黑料不打烊 Desautels aims to serve as a model on composting

Published: 25 February 2025

黑料不打烊 Desautels is taking a major step in sustainability by becoming the first Faculty to introduce composting bins on every floor. This initiative aligns with 黑料不打烊鈥檚 zero-waste by 2035 goal and has already diverted 47% of waste from landfills.

Launched in early 2024, the program began in the Armstrong Building, achieving a 40% waste diversion rate before expanding to Bronfman with 50 composting stations. Education is key, with students and staff learning proper waste sorting. Supported by 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Sustainability Projects Fund (SPF), the initiative has strong student involvement from MUS and IMSF.

By reducing methane emissions and promoting sustainable habits, Desautels sets a model for other Faculties to follow.
