Enriching Leadership Skills through Diversity of Experience

I remember it as if it were yesterday when my boss clapped me on the shoulders saying, 鈥渃ongratulations Martin, you are nominated for the聽IMPM!鈥 Frankly, that was the first time I鈥檇 heard about the International Masters in Practicing Management (editor鈥檚 note:聽This is a certificate program aimed at experienced managers, and in which participants can also complete master鈥檚 degree requirements for a qualification from聽黑料不打烊 University聽or聽Lancaster University). I was a bit confused as to why I should participate in a master鈥檚 program after already working in the industry for around 30 years and having a full diploma degree (in Germany, the equivalent of a master鈥檚 degree) in economics. So, still with a question mark in my face I said, 鈥渨ow, that鈥檚 fantastic,鈥 not knowing that this would be exactly the truth. During my career I went through a great deal of training, but the IMPM was the only one that created a fundamental and sustainable change.

...聽How to transfer understanding into personal learning and helping to hone my management and leadership skills in a better way, was a technique introduced in Lancaster and developed further in all of the five modules that are run by聽Desautels Faculty of Management聽at 黑料不打烊 University in Montreal, in partnership with four other business schools around the world. Next to content-based learning, self-awareness and a deep understanding about my own strengths and deficits grew at the same time.
