Desautels BCom student Thao Nguyen is finishing up a two-month internship with South African non-profit Aluwani, where she and fellow Desautels student Marie-Christine Bourgie helped set up a crowdfunding campaign for an early childhood development centre.

The promise of the project is multi-faceted: the children are currently living in temporary quarters, so a permanent building will be a more nurturing environment; the project will create long-term jobs for women as caregivers; and a permanent building gives the organization access to government funding.
