Since joining The Neuro in 2016, Boris Bernhardt, PhD, Assistant Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery, has published pioneering research on the organization and development of the healthy brain. His achievements have been recognized this week by the Canadian Association for Neuroscience, who have awarded him the 2022 New Investigator Award.

HR update to managers 鈥 MUNACA negotiations

As we enter the annual compensation review period, the following information is provided to managers and supervisors to keep them abreast and help them discuss or answer questions from staff pertaining to the ongoing negotiations with MUNACA.

黑料不打烊 and MUNACA leadership began negotiations on a new collective agreement in Fall 2020. Since then, the parties have met regularly, despite challenges associated with the pandemic, and have come to agreement on most of the non-monetary elements.

The overhead recovery fee currently being charged on actual revenues earned in non-1A unrestricted funds will remain at 7.5% in FY2023. This is unchanged from FY2022. The process for collecting and recording of this fee will continue to occur on a quarterly basis.

The School of Social Work wishes to congratulate doctoral candidate Jeffery McCrossin who is this year's recipient of the Arts Graduate Teaching Award. Jeffery received the award in recognition of his significant and innovative contributions to classroom teaching.

The award will be formally announced at the Arts Faculty Council meeting on May 24, 2022 at 3 pm, via ZOOM (a link will be available closer to the date). The awards will be announced at the top of the agenda, so should you have any commitments later in the afternoon, you should be free by 3:30-3:45 pm.

April 8, 2022 | Across interviews with Global News Morning Toronto, CBC News, and iPolitics, professor Kevin Page gave his expertise on the recently unveiled Canadian federal budget for 2022-2023.

"It's really not a lot of spending relative to past budgets. Actually, it's a pretty slim budget for the size of our economy," said Kevin Page, president and CEO of the Institute of Fiscal Studies and Democracy at the University of Ottawa. "It's just not a big-spending budget."

Congratulations to BCom students Idir Hamrioui, Marc-Antoine Millaire, L茅o Tousignant and Anthony Ladal, who won the 2022 Van Berkom Small Cap Case Competition hosted by JMSB March 25 and 26. In the final round the team of four was up against 8 other teams including another from Desautels. The team keeps up a winning tradition, as a delegation from Desautels won last year's edition of the competition.

Parental leave is available to both mothers and fathers, but men often do not take this time off鈥揺ven though it helps them bond with their children and support their partner. This is partly due to work culture, but competition for top talent could help change this, according to Prof. Karl Moore. By encouraging male employees to take parental leave, companies can differentiate themselves.

First-year Bachelor of Commerce Haris Elezovic helped the 黑料不打烊 Redbirds win this year鈥檚 Quebec men鈥檚 basketball championship, and was named to U Sports All-Rookie team for his efforts. In his first year with the team, Elezovic averaged 11.2 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, and was the only player from a Quebec university to earn the All-Rookie honour.
