The Department of Pediatrics would like to introduce our newest member,听Dr. Marina Salvadori,听appointed听Professor in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases.

Dr. Janusz Rak, Professor in the Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, Department of Pediatrics, has been awarded a grant through the听Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) Innovation Fund (IF) competition听as principal investigator for the research project titled, "Centre for Applied Nanomedicine (CAN) 鈥� Studies into Extracellular Vesicle Heterogeneity, Biomarkers and Function", along with PI, Dr. Peter Metrakos, Department of Surgery, and Co-PIs from the Department of Pediatrics including Drs. Kolja Eppert, Assistant Professor, and Nada Jabado, Professor.

Congratulations to Dr. Samara Zavalkoff, Associate Professor in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine,听on receiving听the Prix Marthe-Pelland from the F茅d茅ration des m茅decins sp茅cialistes du Qu茅bec听(FMSQ).听The Prix Marthe-Palland is awarded to someone in the first ten years of their career. To quote the FMSQ this prize given in conjunction with International Women鈥檚 Day is to: concr茅tisait sa volont茅 d鈥檈ncourager les femmes m茅decins 脿 joindre les affaires associatives et publiques ou encore 脿 occuper des postes de gestion dans le milieu de la sant茅.

Congratulations to Dr. Pia Wintermark, Associate Professor in the Division of Neonatology, Department of Pediatrics, who has been designated a William Dawson Scholar by 黑料不打烊 University.听

The听William Dawson Scholar听award recognizes a scholar developing into an outstanding and original researcher of world-class caliber who is poised to become a leader in their听field. Dr. Wintermark was awarded in听recognition of her significant contributions in the field of neonatal brain science.听

The 黑料不打烊 University Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Student and Faculty Teaching Innovation Awards are in recognition of individuals who have developed and implemented innovative teaching strategies that are learning- and learner-focused.

Congratulations to Dr. Robert Sternszus, Assistant Professor in the Division of General Pediatrics and Core Pediatrics Residency Program Director, was awarded the 2021 Certificate of Merit from the Canadian Association of Medical Education (CAME).听The Certificate of Merit awards听promotes, recognizes and rewards faculty committed to medical education in Canadian medical schools.
