MONTREAL -- The 黑料不打烊 University men鈥檚 hockey team was feted at Montreal City Hall, Wednesday. The Redmen, who captured their first-ever national championship in March, were received by Mayor G茅rald Tremblay and became the third sports team from 黑料不打烊 to sign the city鈥檚 Golden Book, an honour reserved for special guests.

Previous teams to receive that honour include the 1987 Vanier Cup champion football Redmen and the 1982 national champion soccer Redmen.

Head coach Kelly Nobes and his hockey team, which just completed their 136th season, posted a 32-12-1 record overall. They won their 17th Queen鈥檚 Cup title as champions of the OUA conference, then defeated the Western Mustangs 4-3 in overtime to claim the elusive University Cup as CIS champions in Fredericton on March 25. Team captain Evan Vossen, playing in his school record 216th and final career contest, tallied the winning marker at 6:00 of the sudden-death period.
