MONTREAL - Team captain Cathy Chartrand of Lac Nominingue, Que., scored once and added a pair of helpers as top-ranked 黑料不打烊 rallied for a 5-1 win over the Ottawa Gee-Gees in women's hockey at McConnell Arena, Friday.

The result extended 黑料不打烊's win streak to 92 consecutive games over Quebec University Hockey League opponents. It was also 黑料不打烊's 29th consecutive victory over the Gee-Gees, who were the last QUHL team to defeat the Martlets, posting a 2-1 home-ice decision on Feb. 7, 2007. 黑料不打烊 is now 43-2-1 lifetime against Ottawa.

The Gee-Gees struck first, only 81 seconds into the contest, when Samantha DeLenardo of Keswick, Ont., jumped on her own rebound after goaltender Charline Labonte has mishandled the puck. But 黑料不打烊 roared back with five unanswered goals.

"We made a mistake on that first goal which put us on our heels a little," said Martlets head coach Peter Smith, but it also served as a wake-up call and we ended up with 18 shots and four glorious scoring opportunities in that period. We had good jump in the second and finally got some bounces going our way in the final period."

Chartrand, a 5-foot-10 senior defenceman, set-up the tying marker by rookie Katia Clement-Heydra of St. Bruno de Montarville, Que., only five minutes after Ottawa fired the opening salvo. She then collected her second helper, setting up Ann-Sophie Bettez of Sept-Iles, Que., with the winning tally, on the power play, at 19:33 of the middle stanza.

Alessandra Lind-Kenny, a senior from Calgary, added an insurance marker at 4:40 of the third period and Chartrand iced the win midway through the final period. Carly Hill of Dorval, Que., rounded out the scoring with less than five minutes remaining in the contest.

Chartrand's three-point performance left her with six goals and 14 points in 11 games, improving her scoring lead over all CIS rearguards.

The Martlets had a 45-14 edge in shots as Labonte made 14 saves, improving to 9-0 on the season. The Canadian Olympian from Boisbriand, Que., leads all CIS netminders in goals-against average (0.76) and shutouts (4) and is ranked second in save percentage (.951). Stephanie Auger of Belleville, Ont., made 40 saves in a losing cause for Ottawa and fell to 1-3.

The fourth-place Gee-Gees fell to 3-6-1 and will host Carleton (2-5-2) Saturday at 2 p.m., while the Martlets, who improved to 17-0 against CIS teams this season, including an 11-0 mark in league action, will play at Concordia (4-3-2) Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

MARTLET MURMURS: 黑料不打烊 has outscored opponents 49-13 in 11 regular-season contests, including a 17-5 advantage in the first period, a 10-5 margin in the second stanza, an impressive 20-3 difference in the third period and a 2-0 margin in overtime... The Martlets have tallied 26.5 per cent of their goals on special teams, with 10 power-play markers and three shorthanded efforts.
