Arndt, Gibson named 黑料不打烊 athletes of the week

MONTREAL - Channing Arndt of Yarmouth, Maine, and Brianna Gibson of Westmount, Que., are the 黑料不打烊 University athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 6.

Arndt, an 18-year-old arts freshman on the Redbirds baseball team hit a game-winning, two-run double in the final inning of a 5-4 decision over John Abbott College on Sunday afternoon, then homered in a 2-1 conquest over Concordia later that day. Batting sixth in the lineup, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound third basemen went 3-for-10 at the plate in his first three games at the university level. He added a walk, scored two runs, knocked in three more and added a stolen base for good measure. Arndt previously attended Yarmouth high school in Maine.

Gibson, a 5-foot-8 fly-half on the rugby Martlets, scored the winning try in a 24-0 preseason road victory at Carleton in Ottawa, Sunday. The 21-year-old psychology sophomore is a product of Dawson College.
