Abstract
The radiation oncology department of CISSS de Laval treated its first patient in February 2012. The department opened its doors as a fully electronic clinic as all medical, clinical and administrative activities are carried out through an Oncology Electronic Medical Record (OEMR). The implementation of an Oncology Electronic Medical Record was required to support the objectives of exceptional patient care and care coordination. The OEMR enhances communication and facilitates the flow of information throughout the care continuum resulting in increased patient safety and superior patient experience. The radiation oncology department’s approach includes an extensive and ongoing review of all processes, procedures and policies. It also incorporates the standardization, optimization and automation of care through evidence-based guidelines. These evidence-based guidelines are detailed in 175 comprehensive and standardized care plans currently being used in the radiation oncology department. The context of this model in a culture of measurement will be presented.
A light lunch will be served
