Accruing information through virtual technology:聽Explorations in perceptual research

Most people are familiar with the visual dimension of Virtual Reality (VR) but are unaware of how the other senses are essential to creating the VR illusion of another world, another dimension. For instance, there are significant advances in auditory and tactile/haptic VR. In this talk, Dr. Frissen will highlight some of the VR technologies he has used to study how the brain integrates information coming through the different senses, or multisensory perception, taking us from large scale omnidirectional treadmills to small scale tactile devices and a wonderful array of techniques in between.
