The environmental movement has long been built around two themes:聽woe is me and shame on you. But in the age of global human influence on聽the planet, the Anthropocene, that approach ends up resembling a circular firing squad.聽Is the palm oil developer the villain, or the person buying the KitKat bar聽or "green" biodiesel fuel derived from palm nuts?
Andrew Revkin, building on more than 30 years of environmental reporting,聽from the North Pole to the Amazon, outlines a fresh approach to fostering聽durable progress on a complex, turbulent planet 鈥愨 one focused less on setting聽unachievable goals and more on fostering personal and community traits that聽give the best odds of positive environmental and social outcomes.
